Arsenal are poised to make Brighton & Hove Albion defender Ben White their third arrival of the transfer window - but will now have to sell multiple players to balance their books.

So far this summer, Arsenal have been busy in the transfer market and are closing in on their first marquee signing in defensive stalwart White.

Mikel Arteta has already bolstered the ranks of his squad with the club splashing out £22m on securing Portuguese full-back Nuno Tavares and Belgian midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga.

The Gunners are now closing in on the signing of White for a reported £50m, while the club are also hopeful of signing goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale from Sheffield United.

With Arsenal burning money on players like there's no tomorrow, transfer fees will need to be raised in order to fund their ambitious moves.

Thankfully, for the Gunners, there are no shortage of players at the Emirates who could make way for the club to balance the books.

Arsenal may start by offloading Grant Xhaka, with Jose Mourinho keen on bringing the Switzerland international to Roma this summer.

As with Xhaka, there is little doubt that Alexandre Lacazette would still be able to make a positive contribution at Arsenal, but his wage and calibre of suitors mean he may be moved on.

Hector Bellerin, a long-serving player who joined the first-team squad under Arsene Wenger, is also likely to move on this summer.

Meanwhile, Willian, who arrived at Arsenal on a three-year deal from Chelsea last summer, has failed to bring across the form he showed at Stamford Bridge. He will be a player that the Gunners will be keen to get off their wage bill.

Elsewhere, Sead Kolasinac has entirely fallen out of favour at Arsenal under Arteta and spent the second half of last season on loan at Schalke.

Lucas Torreira, another player who has returned to Arsenal following a loan spell, is also unlikely to be involved in the first-team set-up again.

With those seven players out of the door, Arsenal may be able to fund a £77m for Lautaro Martinez after the club reportedly made an enquiry to Inter Milan. Watch this space.
