It's been 12 years since we've been able to tune into the emotional relationship roller coaster that was Footballers' Wives.

But fans, hold on to your hats, the cast from the hit noughties show are eager for it to make a comeback.

Soap veteran Gary Lucy revealed there has been discussions about reviving the ITV drama during an interview with The Sun.

Gary was made a household name from the show, which delved into the glamorous and often controversial world of 'WAGs', and he now stars in the long-running soap Hollyoaks.

The 36-year-old actor said he would love to reprise his role as fictional striker Kyle Pascoe, explaining how it was a 'fantastic time in my life'.

Gary said: "There has been loads of talk about it [a revival] but would I go back? I'd absolutely love to revisit that at some point but who knows what the future brings."

Footballers' Wives took over the TV from 2002 to 2006 and centered on the fictional Premier League football club Earls Park F.C., its players, and their wives who flaunted their big boobs, fake tans and French manicures - basically everything you'd imagine from a stereotypical 'WAG'.

But, as they say, all good things must come to an end and TV bosses pulled the drama from our screens when the show's rating's plummeted in 2006.

Gary confirmed that there were 'loads of talks' about revisiting the show which also starred Zoe Lucker as scheming vixen, Tanya Turner, Gillian Taylforth (Jackie Pascoe-Webb), Ben Price (Conrad Gates) and Alison Newman (Hazel Bailey).

Gary isn't the only cast member keen to see a return of the footie drama, only weeks ago Zoe Lucker and Laila Rouass hinted at a return on ITV's Loose Women.

Laila said when asked if she would make a comeback: "I would if it was as good as we were in it." While Zoe backed her up and agreed she would also return.

During the interview the former co-stars spoke about their favourite story-lines on the show.

Zoe said: 'I always loved the baby swap it was so inappropriate, and I said I wanted your baby, and then I put fake tan on her baby after stealing it and swapping it, and then unfortunately, my real baby got squished by my pug.'

This isn't the only times fans have been teased, last year fans were treated with a mini reunion on Loose Women.

Susie Amy joined her former Footballers' Wives co-star Gary for a surprise reunion and they recreated that infamous wedding from the show. Tasteful.
