We all agree football was better then than it is now, and whilst stumbling through some old YouTube footage, we've unearthed evidence which wholly and conclusively backs up that theory.

By law, the quality of a footballing year should be judged upon the contenders for it's 'Goal of The Season' award, and if that was the case then 2002/03 was the absolute zenith of the sport.

We'd almost forgotten about ITV Digital's catastrophic venture into broadcasting which almost brought on a financial apocalypse, and the less said the better about Andy Townsend's tactics truck in 'The Premiership'.

However, all is forgiven once you use a well spent 3 minutes 20 seconds pawing back across the finest strikes from that campaign. Thierry Henry reaches Matt Le Tissier levels by featuring three times from the ten contenders, and there's also more than memorable strikes from Wayne Rooney, Alan Shearer and Ruud van Nistelrooy.

Throw in a couple of beauties from Eidur Gudjohnsen, Paolo Di Canio and Jay-Jay Okocha and you've got yourself a fucking seriously good collection of screamers here.

Kick back and have a look at when then beautiful game was still just about beautiful.

Take me back to 2002, please
