Man Sells His PS5 After Wife Discovers It's Not An Air Purifier

Man Sells His PS5 After Wife Discovers It's Not An Air Purifier

A man in Taiwan has reportedly sold his almost brand new PlayStation 5 after his wife found out that it wasn't an air purifier like he'd told her.

Well, it has been said before that the design of the PS5 makes it look a bit like one, but it's still a bold move to attempt to pull off.

Not that many air purifiers on the market come with controllers and plug straight into the telly, do they?

Anyway, this story comes from a Facebook post shared by a man in Taiwan who said he'd spotted someone selling up their console, which is strange enough when you consider they only came out in most places around the world this month and have been selling out around the world.

Jin Wu, the man buying the PS5, said he arranged to meet up with the potential seller in person, and called up to sort it out, but was met by a female voice who he said didn't sound like they were much of a gamer themselves.

He also pointed out that the console he was set to buy was a whole load cheaper than the others he'd seen on Facebook's marketplace that day.

The plot thickens.

Taking up the story on Facebook, he wrote: "When the seller arrived, it turned out to be a middle-aged man. You could tell that he definitely played video games, just with a single look."

During the sale, the pair got talking.

He asked: "Where did you buy this console?"

The man responded: "Pchome [a major online marketplace in Taiwan]."

"Oh, you're really quick at reserving the console," the man replied. "Did you manage to reserve two consoles? If not, why are you selling this?"

The seller admitted: "It's my wife who wants to sell it..."

The Facebook post continued: "I went silent after seeing the look in his eyes. I could feel his pain.

"Seems like women can still tell the difference between a PS5 console and an air purifier."

Plenty of people have commented after the fact that this story bears more than a passing similarity to a South Korean cartoon by YouTuber Jangbbijju.

In that story, a man tried to convince his wife that the PlayStation is a special router called 'Plash Speed'.

The real trick is to discuss things with your significant other before buying them, and not to be too hard on your partner if they really want to buy something.

However, the buyer got his PS5, so he's probably emerged from this the happiest.
