Man Makes Holiday Style Sports Bar In Back Garden

His holiday was cancelled so he brought Tenerife to Glasgow

We may have seen a few of these lately, but this back garden bar looks exactly like one you'd get on holiday.

In fact, when Stephen Andrew, from Glasgow, had his holiday postponed, he decided that he'd bring the Canary Islands to Scotland in a bid to make the most of being in lockdown.

With the family holiday postponed until January because of coronavirus restrictions, his aim was to be able to 'close your eyes and feel like you're in Tenerife' - and it looks like he has really pulled it off.

Stephen wanted his own slice of the 'Rife after his holiday was postponed.

Speaking to LADbible, Stephen, 38, said: "Me and my mate decided to build it one day when we were having a beer in the garden.

"Just thought I'd love one of those pool type bars on holiday. I did a rough drawing of what I wanted and went for it."

And he really did go for it, the bar has all the works, including its own WiFi and live sports screenings.

Stephen has decided to spend lockdown in style.

He said: "The materials for the bar cost me about £600. I added the projector and screen fish tank and tiled the patio after it was built.

"I'm a tiler by trade, so the patio was the easiest part."

The ambitious project only took him a couple of weeks, but his wife Linda wasn't on board straight away.

Stephen said: "At first my wife thought I was nuts but now she enjoys it more than me."

There's a strict 'no-soaps' policy, unfortunately for Linda.

However, he does have a rule for his bar, saying: "Only sports are allowed on my big screen. Not her soaps."

And he's already been getting a lot of use out of it, despite most sport having been postponed since March.

Celtic fan Stephen said: "So far it's been all repeated stuff except for the German football. I can't wait till the 17th when the Premier League starts again. It will be great for future World Cups and European Championships."

He added: "I like watching all the UFC and boxing events, I'd love a Joshua v Fury fight night party."

Stephen has put a projector so he'll never miss the game again.

And Stephen is looking forward to inviting his mates and neighbours round as soon as lockdown is over.

The pumps in the bar are in working order too, although he's getting a new beer cooler before he has guests.

Stephen explained: "A keg is around £100 and that gives you 88 pints of beer. It's good when folk come round but you still end up trying to give pints away to anyone who will take them."

I bet we could find a few takers.
