KO Of The Day: Ricky Hatton Hits Castillo With A Left To The Liver

Our new series sees us pick out a legendary knock-out in the world of Boxing and MMA.

Today, Mancunian boxer Ricky Hatton celebrates his 38th birthday, so we thought it was only right to have one of Hatton's most spectacular knock-outs for a KO of the day feature.

We've opted for his stunning win over Jose Luis Castillo in June 2007 atwhere Hatton landed a deadly, vicious left hook to Castillo's liver which left him wincing and forced him to be counted out for the first time in his career.

"THE PERFECT LEFT HOOK TO THE LIVER ENDS THE FIGHT!"

Hatton would later claim that his blow left Castillo with four broken ribs. This was a fighter that took Floyd Mayweather Jr to the limit in a lightweight bout back in 2002 and Hatton knocked him to the canvas with one sweet body shot.

The fight propelled "The Hitman" to global status in boxing, with big-money fights coming against Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacqauio in Las Vegas sandwiched in between victories over, Juan Laszcano and Paulie Malignaggi.

I bet Castillo is still feeling that left hook today.
