Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao had the boxing world talking last week at the suggestion that the pair may have a rematch. Now the American is claiming that his comeback fight will be against someone else in Tokyo.

In 2015 Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao fought in the biggest money fight in boxing's history. It was probably about four years after the two men should have fought and it was nowhere near as good as it should have been.

Mayweather won pretty comfortably on points with the Filipino suffering with a shoulder injury that stopped him being at his best. The American would go on to have just two more fights before retiring, admittedly also retiring after the first of those.

Last week the pair bumped into each other in Japan with Mayweather saying he was ready for another comeback and a rematch in December:

That is a fight that would once again interest people, and one of the few that people would want to see Mayweather come out of retirement for, however it's already up in the air.

TMZ are reporting that the man who's professional record is 50-0 is eyeing his comeback fight to be in Tokyo in December not against Pacquiao, delaying the rematch till 2019.

TMZ claim that they're "told Floyd hasn't yet picked an opponent -- and he ain't just lookin' at boxers -- he's also checking out kickboxers and MMA fighters."

So it could be his second boxing fight in a row that isn't against a boxer although it won't be Conor McGregor on this occasion, which will come as a relief to fans of UFC.

It seems the plan for Mayweather is to fight in Japan in order to open up a market for his other business ventures and the fight could take place on New Year's Eve, which would be massive.

The news could be a big blow to boxing fans but with the rest of the year already stacked with some huge fights it could be best to save this one for 2019.

Will Mayweather vs Pacquiao II play out in the same way or can Pacquiao gain some revenge?
