Jorge Linares And Vasyl Lomachenko Look Set To Face
2018 is building up to be yet another excellent year for boxing and Jorge Linares and Vasyl Lomachenko look to be on the verge of confirming what would definitely be in the 'dream fight' category.
Already this year we've seen George Groves and Chris Eubank Jnr square off and whilst it might not have ended up being a classic it certainly was a fight we all wanted to see.
Coming up we've got the Gennady Golovkin vs Canelo Alvarez rematch to look forward to, after last year's first attempt was an instant classic, whilst Anthony Joshua beating Joseph Parker later this month could give us AJ vs Deontay Wilder.

And there could be a hell of a lot more to look forward to in boxing this year both at home and abroad but they could all pale in comparison to Linares vs Lomachenko.
According to reports a fight between the pair for Linares' WBA lightweight title could be set for May 12th in Madison Square Garden, New York, with ESPN due to show the fight.
LA Times reporter Lance Pugmire reported today that the contracts are all signed:
Really thrilled that @trboxing & @GoldenBoyBoxing could get together and make #LinaresLoma!!! Cannot wait for this one!!!! #boxing @BobArum @OscarDeLaHoya @makeawar @ToddDuboef @CarlMoretti @TheGarden @SalFederico @KlimasBoxing @VasylLomachenko @JorgeLinares- Dan Rafael (@danrafaelespn) March 13, 2018
Just yesterday Golden Boy promoter Oscar de la Hoya took to Twitter to talk about the rumours, saying that he was interested but suggesting that the fight was yet to be confirmed:
As excited as anyone that big fight between @JorgeLinares and @vasyllomachenko is getting close. But it's not done yet. And until lead promoter @bobarum picks up the phone and calls @makeawar, nothing can proceed #makethecall #linareslomachenko- Oscar De La Hoya (@OscarDeLaHoya) March 12, 2018
Linares has looked at his best recently, winning the lightweight belt from Anthony Crolla in September 2016 with a great performance and backing it up with three defences including a rematch against Crolla.
Lomachenko is just 11 fights into his professional career but despite losing one has looked incredible and is already one of, if not the, best pound-for-pound boxer in the world.
His junior lightweight title defence against Guillermo Rigondeaux in December was an absolute masterclass.
A fight between the pair could be something else, please make sure this one happens!
