Joe Calzaghe Buries Carl Froch With The Perfect Response To Call Out
Joe Calzaghe has hit back at Carl Froch after the 'Cobra' called him out and claimed he would beat the Welshman if they both came out of retirement.
During their careers Froch was desperate to get a fight against Calzaghe but the Welshman had his eyes set on bigger names and the pair never fought.
Speaking last week the former super-middleweight world champion called out Calzaghe. "I've always said I'll come out of retirement for the right dance partner," he said on his podcast. "Obviously, I'm not gonna jump in there with a current world champion who's been active, but someone like Joe Calzaghe, I mean, I'm not being funny.
"I don't wanna be horrible or disrespectful in any way, but it's gonna sound like I am, even though I'm not, but have you seen the state of him?"
Now Calzaghe, who retired in 2008 after beating Roy Jones Jr, has hit back, saying he's still in 'Froch's head.'
"It's mad, I'm still living in his head after all these years. I've done everything you can achieve in boxing," the 48-year-old told talkSPORT.
"I know what would have happened and I don't take much notice of what he says. I'm 48 and I've been retired 10 years, I'm happy with my career.

"When I was at my peak, I'd have been too fast and too sharp for him. I think I'd have beaten any super-middleweight, maybe not Roy Jones Jr at his peak."

Froch was the number one contender to Calzaghe's WBC super-middleweight title in 2008 but the Welshman chose to vacate after beating Mikkel Kessler and instead moved up in weight.
Whilst the Nottingham boxer beat Jean Pascal for the now vacated belt, Calzaghe fought boxing legends Bernard Hopkins and Jones Jr to win and retain The Ring light-heavyweight title, before retiring with a 46-0 record.
Whilst a fantasy fight between the two at their peaks would have been interesting it's fair to say Froch's best was after Calzaghe had retired.
Who do you think would have won in a fight between the pair? Let us know in the comments.
