Frank Warren has said Anthony Joshua's offer to spar with Tyson Fury is 'pointless' and claimed the two should wait to 'get in the ring together' in front of paying customers.

The heavyweight division is heating up again after AJ won his three versions of the world title back off Andy Ruiz Jr but it seems a long way off until the world champ faces either Deontay Wilder or Fury.

On Wednesday the 2012 Olympic champion offered to spar with his fellow Brit ahead of the Gypsy King's rematch with Wilder in February. Before everyone gets excited though Frank Warren isn't a fan of the offer, "That's all nonsense. Joshua is already backing out of the offer," he said talking to Metro.

"He's said he can't believe he said it and we've all had those moments. Who cares about them sparring each other? We want to see them fight.

"This sparring session will never happen. What's the point of it? It's about them in the ring together being watched by paying punters, not in the gym."

Referring to the idea as 'pointless' Fury's promoter added, "First of all, a sparring session between Joshua and Fury would not be a spar, it would be all guns blazing, chaos.

"They wouldn't be taking it easy and they'd only be trying to outdo each other. Stupid, completely pointless."

Wilder and Fury fought out a controversial draw in December 2018, with many believing that the Brit should have won despite two knockdowns, and it's taken over a year for them to get to a rematch.

Fans would love to see the winner take on Joshua with all the belts up for grabs but it's unlikely to be the case with the two set to have a third fight after the second installment of what will become a trilogy.

Joshua meanwhile is likely to face Kubrat Pulev in his next fight. though it's not been confirmed, with the IBF title on the line.

With Dillian Whyte also waiting in the wins to fight for the WBA title, as number one mandatory for either Wilder or Fury, it could unfortunately be quite some time until we get to the fight to decide the undisputed heavyweight world champion.
