Eddie Hearn Reveals Why Kell Brook Vs Amir Khan Won't Happen

It looks like one of the most heated rivalries in British boxing will never get sorted.

The next few months for British boxing are pretty huge. There are some world class nights of boxing coming up, which started two weekends ago, but it looks like one of the most hotly anticipated match ups won't happen.

Nine days ago James DeGale fought Badu Jack as the two men tried to unify the super-middleweight division. It was a very entertaining match up but the result wasn't satisfactory for a lot of people as the two men fought to a draw, each keeping their belts.

This week Carl Frampton defends his featherweight title against Leo Santa Cruz in a rematch to one of 2016's best fights. After that we've still got David Haye vs Bellew, Linares vs Crolla II and Joshua vs Klitschko to look forward to between now and April.

We all hoped that May would be the month for Kell Brook and Amir Khan to finally get it on in the ring after years of calling each other out in interviews and on social media. But today Matchroom Boxing's Eddie Hearn revealed that Brook won't fight Khan with the 30-70 split the former Olympian wants:

And of course in the true tradition of this feud, built entirely on verbal dig and counter verbal dig, Khan responded on Twitter in his usual arrogant manner. The Bolton based boxer seems to forget he's not the man with a title:

The two could have set up a fight at welterweight ahead of their last fights but instead moved up two weight divisions to fight more illustrious opponents. Khan was stopped by Canelo Alvarez at middleweight whilst Brook faced Gennady Golovkin at the same weight.

Ironically it should have been Canelo vs GGG too but the Mexican is dodging his would be opponent whilst the Kazakh was supposed to be fighting Chris Eubank Jnr before that fell through and Brook jumped at the chance.

The loss to GGG was Brook's first whilst Khan has now lost four times, three by big knock downs.

It's about time these two split things 50-50 and just got it on, unfortunately it doesn't look like it ever will!
