Carl Froch Responds To Claims About Anthony Joshua And Deontay Wilder

The retired boxer managed to make an interesting point in between reminding everyone about his Wembley knockout of George Groves.

Anthony Joshua literally sent a message to Deontay Wilder after he beat Joseph Parker, calling out the American for his next fight. However Carl Froch thought only his words did the talking rather than his actions.

AJ can't win even though he pretty much always does. Knock someone out and they're a 'bum,' fail to knock someone out and he should have KO'd them, even though it's also a complaint that he'd never previously gone the distance.

But the truth is that Joseph Parker was always going to be a tricky opponent and a win is a win and AJ was worth that win. Would it have been nice if he'd got it done sooner? Sure but not everything can be a KO.

Check out AJ's opinions on a possible fight with Stipe Miocic:

The win does bring the former Olympic champion closer to the chance to hold all of the heavyweight gold when he eventually comes up against fellow undefeated boxer Deontay Wilder.

After the fight AJ made it known that he wanted the Bronze Bomber, or Tyson Fury, as his next opponent. However former boxer turned Sky pundit Carl Froch thinks that the fight didn't 'send a message' to Wilder at all, with the Cobra saying:

"I said it in the commentary and I'll say it again, I don't think he sent a message to Deontay Wilder, I don't think Wilder's worried about that performance and when Joshua says he will knock Wilder spark out, Wilder does not believe him.

"Simple as that, he don't believe him.

"That was a great night's work for Joshua, Team Joshua picked up another belt. You know how good he is and what he can do and how he can punch, he did what he had to do tonight to win so, what are you going to do."

Froch of course would have been right at home last night. He was on commentary at the Principality Stadium where 80,000 people were in attendance to see AJ stretch his record to 21-0.

That would have reminded the former super middleweight champion of the time that he stopped George Groves in front of a similar amount of people at Wembley, a fact he's never let anyone forget.

It does seem that Froch is correct as Wilder continues to seem unmoved by Joshua but he should have been in Cardiff last night to really kick start the build up to their potential match.
