Vasyl Lomachenko Smashes Nail Into Wall With His Bare Fist

Unified lightweight champion Vasyl Lomachenko has once again proven his elite toughness by punching a nail into a wall with his bare fist.

The Ukrainian fighting-machine, who owns an amateur record of 396-1, burst on the professional scene in 2013 and quickly became the world's most exciting fighter.

Last year, Lomachenko was fighting for his third world title in just his 12th professional fight and more recently, he was victorious over Luke Campbell at the O2 Arena to retain his lightweight belt.

But for many, punching an actual nail through a wall is even more impressive.

This is what you call an incredible party trick.


There's a reason why Lomachenko is the best pound-for-pound boxer in the world. Hard work and dedication.

The 31-year-old is also known for his bizarre training methods to stay at the top, and perhaps his most impressive routine involves him holding his breath underwater for a long period of time.

Just check out this clip and tell me you're not impressed.

Lomachenko's current record stands at an incredible 4 minutes and 30 seconds, something he believes gives him an advantage in the latter stages of a bout.

"My record is 4 minutes and 30 seconds. I did that before my second Olympic Games in 2012." he told GQ Magazine.

"It took me years to reach that level. Right now, I can hold my breath for about three minutes, but if I trained every day to do it, I believe I could break my record.

"It's how you gain control over the fight and your opponent. Because of this, I am as strong in the twelfth round as I am in the first."

He recently revealed in an interview with talkSPORT that his father is the one behind these unusual methods.

"[The training methods are] the idea of my father." he said.

"My father is my main coach and every time he gives me a different exercise. One of them is speedball with [a tennis ball]. 'That gives you god reactions and co-ordination.

"Underwater [exercises] trains your mind and your psychology. It's helped me."

Lomachenko's training methods also include juggling, handstands and street skating to aid his coordination and power in the ring.

"I have done these exercises since I was an amateur boxer. It trains both my mind and body to be prepared for any situation." he told GQ Magazine.

"I tore my labrum in my fight against Jorge Linares last year, and still came back to knock him out."

He really is a different animal.
