Dillian Whyte and Andy Ruiz Jr are currently embroiled in a war of words on social media after their proposed fight fell through.

It was rumoured that the pair would face off after Whyte's promoter, Eddie Hearn, revealed that he'd made a "big seven-figure offer" to the Mexican and his team.

But it looks like the fight is officially off after former Heavyweight champion Ruiz accused the Brit of ducking him, saying he "didn't want any smoke".

Ruiz went on to announce there was "big news" incoming regarding his next opponent.

Just hours later and Whyte has dismissed rumours that he didn't want "any smoke" by calling the Mexican a "coward" and a "blob".

"No smoke. Typical coward move from fake Mexican @Andy_destroyer1 a blob rolling away from a big payday you're all stomach and no heart." he wrote on his official Instagram page.

"I am more Mexican then you am the can man if you want it you can get it."

The rumours continue to swirl surrounding a potential opponent for Ruiz, who lost his belt in December last year against Anthony Joshua after admitting he was "too heavy" for the fight in Saudi Arabia.

"I didn't prepare how I should've and gained too much weight." He told Sky Sports:

"He won and outboxed me but best believe if we do a third fight I'm going to get in the best shape of my life.

"I thought I was going to feel stronger and better but next fight I admit I'm going to be more prepared. I was chasing him instead of cutting the rings. I felt like I couldn't throw my combinations."

Who do you think Ruiz should fight next?
