Not many people dared to confront multiple-weight champion Floyd Mayweather during his remarkable career.

The American fighter was considered the best pound-for-pound fighter for many years, even retiring with an undefeated 50-0 record.

But when 'Money' was running his mouth after winning the WBC welterweight title against Victor Ortiz in 2011, an 80-year-old broadcaster decided to speak up in front of millions watching at home.

Larry Merchant, a legendary commentator and sports writer, was quoted as saying: "If I was 50-years younger I'd kick your ass!" after the controversial bout.

The American knocked his opponent out with two punches after "The People's Champion" thought referee Joe Cortez said "break."

It didn't go down well with those in attendance at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas and fans jeered the final result, but many were on board with the entertaining post fight interview.

It was all going smoothly until Mayweather interrupted Merchant towards the end of the interview.

"You never give me a fair shake. So I'm gonna let you talk to Victor Ortiz, alright? I'm through." he said.

"They can put somebody else up here to give me an interview. HBO need to fire you. You don't know s*** about boxing. You ain't s***."

The 89-year-old was having none of Floyd's trash talk.

"I wish I was 50 years younger and I'd kick your ass!" Merchant said, before walking off with a big grin on his face.

Days later, an irritated Mayweather defended his actions during the TV interview.

"Everybody is tired of Larry Merchant. He said if he was 50 years younger, that he would kick my ass." he said. "All of these boxing experts - how can you be a boxing expert if you never had a fight before?"

Thoughts on the above interview? Do you consider Floyd Mayweather one of the greatest of all time? If not, thee greatest?
