In a year full of interest and intrigue in boxing it's been an especially crazy couple of weeks. After the glitz and glamour of McGregor vs Mayweather came the real business of GGG vs Canelo. And of course McGregor had something to say.

Of course two weeks ago wasn't the best fight ever but Conor McGregor vs Floyd Mayweather was one of the biggest events in sport in history as the king of UFC and the king of boxing faced off.

For some that was 'a circus' and the real fight was always going to be between GGG and Canelo Alvarez last night, of course it was Oscar de la Hoya who made the most noise about that and as head of Golden Boy promotions he had a slight vested interest in that rhetoric.

Neither fight disappointed and Canelo vs GGG was brilliant but it unfortunately had a controversial ending with one judge somehow giving Canelo the win by eight rounds.

Of course with some people claiming that the 'Notorious' was going to ruin boxing with his 'farce' of a fight he had something to tweet once the result was read out:

And plenty of people were happy to point out that the finish to the superfight last night hurt boxing far more than anything that the too flashy athletes competing two weeks previously had done:

It's such a shame that the fight had to end in controversy even if the draw may have been the right result it was the farce of how far apart that one judge was.

McGregor will always try and steal some of the headlines.
