The Boxer Who Knocked Floyd Mayweather's Tooth Out And Wears It Round His Neck

The Boxer Who Knocked Floyd Mayweather's Tooth Out And Wears It Round His Neck

Boxer Marcos Maidana claims he still has Floyd Mayweather's tooth from their second bout inside the squared circle.

The Argentine, who was a world champion in two weight classes, faced the 50-0 fighter on two occasions and lost both bouts on points in 2014.

The rematch, which took place at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas and was branded 'Mayhem', saw Maidana catch Mayweather flush on the jaw with a brutal right hook three rounds in.

Slow-mo footage appeared to show his tooth flying out as a result of the impact and years later, the 36-year old claims he still has that same tooth as a memento.

Bizarrely, he's now wearing the tooth in a pendant and took to Instagram to show his followers.

Mayweather has always denied that his tooth did come out in the gruelling encounter.

Speaking post-fight, he said: "In the third round, when he hit me with that shot after the bell, it was a real good shot. It got my attention.

"It was nothing I never felt before, but it was a really good shot which got my attention.

"No, he didn't knock my teeth out. Not at all! He's a strong guy, he's a good puncher, but no, as far as my teeth missing, absolutely not."

Maidana has not fought since suffering consecutive losses to the undefeated Mayweather but there has been rumblings of a potential trilogy fight being on the cards.

And kickboxer Jorge Cali, who was poised to fight Maidana in a boxing bout, believes has the capacity to emerge victorious if the two square off again.

"Maidana can definitely come back. I know he would believe that if he had a new fight with Floyd, Marcos could win with no doubts this time, " kickboxer Jorge Cali recently told World Boxing News.

"I think we all saw the first fight and think he won it. That's why there was that second one where Floyd proved to be the undisputed number one."
