Conor McGregor 'Team-Mate' Claims A Date For Mayweather Fight Is Decided

The Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather saga is like an ongoing transfer story that sometimes feels like it will never end but one person close to McGregor reckons there's already a date.

Like a teenager waiting on Twitter waiting for their favourite football team to "ANNOUNCE" a transfer we're just desperate for McGregor and Mayweather to do the same with their fight.

The king of UFC and the king of boxing have been flirting with each other over the possibility of getting in a boxing ring together for months now.

Most recently the Irishman confirmed that he had signed a deal with UFC president Dana White for their side of the deal for the fight.

'Money' was over in England promoting a fight at the time and said he needed to go home and talk to Al Haymon before signing his part, but that's the last we've heard.

However talking to La Hora de la UFC, via Marca, Mcgregor's colleague Abner Lloveras claimed a date has been set saying, "The big news that I want to tell you is that the fight between McGregor and Mayweather has a date. It will be in September.

September has widely been thought of as the date for the fight especially as Mayweather usually fights around Mexican independence day.

However the closest date to the holiday has already been taken by the hotly anticipated fight between Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin.

White even said in an interview recently that September 16th had been the date they were looking at saying, "We just lost our date to Canelo and GGG [Golovkin]."

Is this what we'll get on September 30th?

On top of that UFC have a fight night scheduled in for September 23rd, ruling out a second date in the month for what could be the biggest night in boxing history for pay-per-view buys.

Lloveras, known as 'Skullman' in UFC, was on Team McGregor for the 22nd series of Ultimate Fighter and is quite close with the 'Notorious.'

Based on the Spaniard's quote and the information we already have it looks like a September 30th date for the mega fight!
