Floyd Mayweather's uncle has dismissed controversial theories that Tyson Fury's gloves were tampered with ahead of his sensational victory over Deontay Wilder.

Fury, 31, put on a masterclass performance as he dropped his fierce rival twice en route to securing a stunning seventh-round stoppage win in their blockbuster rematch.

But videos emerged on social media after the February clash that alleged Fury's gloves were not padded and allowed him to cut Wilder easily in the fight.

Jeff Mayweather has now weighed in on the debate and argued that the strict regulations would have prevented any form of glove tampering to take place.

"I don't think it's true because once you come out to the centre of the ring the referee checks your gloves," the 55-year-old former American boxer told The Mayweather Channel.

"You're being watched by the commission [in the dressing room], so you can't get away with too much. I mean, people have got away with doing things that are really bad.

"But ever since then they've been very, very strict. So I don't think that happened.

"It had to happen in his corner, if it happened. Don't get me wrong, I watched the same video you watched and it did look awkward and it did look like his hands weren't in the gloves like they are supposed to be."

Other bizarre fan theories have suggested that Fury's hand wasn't fully inside the glove and allowed him to benefit from the advantage.

Mayweather admitted that the new WBC champ would have benefited from it, but he argued that the theory was someone "trying to justify [Wilder] losing."

'Jazzy' explained: "It's a benefit. Every time you're hitting someone with your first, as opposed to your glove, the damage is going to be a whole lot worse.

"What I saw, it looked like his hands were turned where the open part is.

"His hands have wraps on them but that protects his hands, but the impact of that punch, when you get hit with just wraps as opposed to getting hit with gloves, it's very effective.

"Even though I've seen the video, it looked that way but I don't think so, it's someone trying to justify him [Wilder] losing."

Fury's cutman, Jacob 'Stitch' Duran, has wasted no time in slamming accusations that his gloves were tampered with for the fight.

And Matchroom chief Eddie Hearn has also rubbished any conspiracy theories relating to Fury's gloves.
