Boxing fans are adamant that Floyd Mayweather refused to let Logan Paul hit the canvas after damning footage showed he 'actually knocked him out.'

Both fighters went the full distance in their eight-round exhibition showdown at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida, on Sunday.

Mayweather, who retired from professional boxing in 2017, largely dominated the fight against the 26-year-old YouTuber.

Judges were not present at ringside for the fight as the bizarre rules revealed that no official winner would be crowned from the exhibition clash.

Mayweather was met with criticism from fans on social media after he failed to stop Paul, with knockouts and stoppage decisions permitted for the fight.

However, the 44-year-old American superstar might have been able to stop the fight earlier, but he instead 'held up' Paul to ensure it went eight rounds.

That's according to some fans, who have started to circulate footage on social media of Mayweather landing a devastating right to his opponent's face.

Paul immediately went for the clinch and appeared to be heading to the canvas, only for what appeared to be Mayweather holding him up.

"How did I not notice that," one boxing fan posted.

Someone else wrote: "He was gagging to hit the floor. LOL."

A third Twitter user said: "How did we miss that? Floyd actually knocked [him] out, then carried him for few secs."

While another hilariously tweeted: "Floyd reminding him there's nine figures at stake: 'Logan, wake up, wake up, man.'"

And a fifth added: "Floyd had to make him work more for the money."

Paul went on an all-out assault on Mayweather at the end of the opening round as the YouTube star unloaded a flurry of shots at the Hard Rock Stadium.

The American managed to throw a whopping 217 punches in the Mayweather fight, but the stats showed that Paul only made 28 significant strikes.

YouTuber Jake Paul claimed that Mayweather now holds a '50-1' record after proclaiming that his brother beat the boxing legend.
