People are trying to figure out how Ben Askren got knocked out by Jake Paul when he survived Robbie Lawler's vicious onslaught in his UFC debut.

Paul stopped Askren with a nasty overhand right in the first round of their boxing bout on Saturday.

The YouTube star floored the former MMA fighter with a single punch with the referee calling off the contest.

Askren, who was known for his toughness and durability during his heyday, succumbed to Paul's power - lasting just 1 minute and 59 seconds in the ring.

His inability to stick with Paul raised some eyebrows among some fight fans who brought up his Octagon debut at UFC 235 in March 2019.

Askren, unbeaten in MMA at the time, faced Lawler following a successful career having captured the Bellator and ONE welterweight titles.

He survived a huge scare as he somehow overcame Lawler's punishment to submit him moments later in a stunning sequence which will go down in UFC history.

Lawler absolutely pummeled Askren with heavy punches and elbows from a dominant position after slamming him on his head.

He miraculously pulled through before scoring a sensational come-from-behind victory.

So, Askren losing to Paul in one round surprised some people after the 'fix' claims.

Speaking after his fight with Paul, the 36-year-old poked fun at himself when discussing the ridicule he's set to receive following his KO defeat.

"I got knocked out by Jake Paul. Its f**king embarrassing," he said.

Asked about what's next, he replied: "I don't really give a sh*t.

"There's some pizza waiting in my hotel room, I'm going to go eat that, I'm going to fly home and hang out with my kids tomorrow."
