Mike Tyson had agreed to fight former MMA star Bob Sapp before penning a deal to face Roy Jones Jr.
Tyson is set to return to the ring against fellow boxing icon Jones Jr in California on September 12.

But 'Iron' Mike was originally planned to meet Sapp, who starred in The Longest Yard and fought legendary fighters in Pride during his MMA career.
Sapp, 46, was set to fight the former world heavyweight champion after Tyson's brother-in-law convinced him to accept a bout against the 6 ft 5 powerhouse.
Tyson revealed: "My brother-in-law said: 'Listen, I know you don't wanna fight, but would you fight Bob Sapp? Somebody wants to offer you a lot of money to fight Bob Sapp.'

"I said, 'get outta here, I told people I don't fight no more.'
"Then my mind went 'ding! - What are the actual rules they want to fight under? Will they box me under the Marquis of Queensberry?'
"They said yes and I said, yes I'll fight him."
Of course, Tyson vs. Sapp failed to materialise with the 54-year-old agreeing to meet Jones Jr in an exhibition bout.
The eight-round clash is scheduled to take place at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California, on September 12.

The bout can only be determined by a knockout with no judges scoring the contest.
They won't be wearing headgear, but will be wearing larger than normal gloves.
It has also been disclosed that the contest will be stopped if either fighter receives a cut, according to California State Athletic Commission executive director Andy Foster.
Foster explained: "Tyson and Jones Jr won't be wearing headgear for the fight.

"They'll be lacing up 12-ounce gloves and there won't be any judges present at the fight to score the action.
"So, technically there won't be a winner unless a knockout somehow occurs. Or, either fighter is deemed unfit to continue."
He added: "They can move around and make some money, but I told them 'if you get cut, it's over.'"
