Mike Tyson Is Back In Training For Next Fight, Expected To Be In September

Mike Tyson has already started training for his next bout, with 'Iron' Mike poised to be back in the squared circle in September.

After 15 years away, Tyson returned to the ring in November at the age of 54 and rolled back the years in an exhibition bout with Roy Jones Jr at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

But having founded the Legends Only League in July 2020 and expressed an interest in partaking in more exhibitions, Tyson's coach has revealed we will see the former WBA, WBC and IBF world heavyweight champion in action soon.

"We continue training," Rafael Cordeiro told MMA Fighting.

"He's an athlete and is always training, hitting pads here in the gym. I think we're going to have something in September.

"I don't know who because his company Legends Only League is working on it and negotiating a TV deal so they can announce a schedule, but we're training. We'll be fighting in September."

At the moment there is no word on who Tyson's opponent might be. Talks over a lucrative trilogy bout with rival Evander Holyfield fell through and after the collapse, Tyson told reporters he will fight former rival Lennox Lewis in September.

He was also subject to a world title fight offer as WBA 'Regular' champion Trevor Bryan called him out for a competitive slug-fest.

The bout with Jones Jr reportedly garnered a whopping 1.6 million pay-per-view buys and generated over £50 million.

Tyson's goal in his comeback, above all, is to help people and raise money for charity.

"I'm just happy I got this under my belt and I'm going to continue to go further and do more, absolutely," he said after the November fight.

"This is bigger than fighting and winning a championship. We're humanitarians, we're helping people.

"That's bigger, I'm into that now."
