Jamie Foxx has been bulking up big-time as he prepares to play Mike Tyson in a biopic about the boxing legend's life.

The actor and singer has had plans for the project for a while and after putting the foundation in place, he says now it's picking up steam.

"It's a definitive yes," Foxx revealed on the Instagram Live series 'Catching Up with Mark Birnbaum.

"Doing biographies is a tough thing. Sometimes it takes 20 years to get them done, but we officially got the real ball rolling."

Even for a man who does a brilliant Tyson impression, morphing into the Baddest Man of the Planet isn't an easy task by any stretch of the imagination but Foxx is putting in the work so that he resembles the youngest world heavyweight champion in history.

He's been in the gym every day without fail doing 60 pull ups, 60 dips and 100 press ups and already it's clear to see the transformation he's undergoing.

Foxx expects to get to 216 pounds to begin with, with the cameras adding even more - and he believes he will bare a strong likeness to 'Iron' Mike.

"I guarantee you, people will run up on me in the street and ask for an autograph and think that I'm Mike," Foxx added.

"In changing the body, we will be 216 pounds (97kgs) when we shoot and then we'll balloon to 225-230 (102-104) which will look like 250 (113) on screen."

Having first met him when Tyson came to see a young Foxx do comedy and even tell a joke about the boxer that got him some praise off the man himself, the 53-year old feels confident he can do a good job of showcasing the many highs and lows in his life through this film.

"That's the person that we want to show," he stated.

"We want to show everybody evolves. Everybody comes from a good or bad place and I think when we lay the layers on Mike Tyson in this story, I think everybody from young and old will be able to understand this man's journey and the way we'll place it.

"I saw him at the height of his career and then when things got bad, things got bumpy, I also saw him as well, so what I'm excited about the movie is to show those moments of the different Mike."

If you want to generate any more excitement, just listen and watch Foxx describe the opening scene in the Tyson film. It promises to be must-see.
