A former world champion boxer floored a Facebook troll who had been abusing him online.

Gavin 'The Rock' Rees is a former WBA super-lightweight world champion who fought the likes of Adrien Broner and Anthony Crolla in a 43-bout career.

He retired from the sport in 2014 after a swansong victory over Gary Buckland at the Motorpoint Arena in Cardiff.

Rees had resisted the urge to get back into the squared circle for a number of years and had only took part in sparring once in the last few years.

But after being the victim of persistent online trolling, he elected to put the gloves on again and the challenged the man who had been giving him grief.

The 39-year old invited him down to the gym for a bit of sparring and predictably it did not end well for the troll.

In footage posted by Rees himself, the challenger got a few shots in that didn't faze the retired boxer one bit and mere seconds later, he was in a heap after being caught with a deadly shot to the liver. Lesson taught, lesson learnt.

The most famous example of a boxer getting his revenge on a troll was back in 2014 when Deontay Wilder destroyed internet troll Charlie Zelenoff in 2014 after claiming he suffered years of vile abuse on social media and racism.

The former WBC World champion agreed to meet up with the self-proclaimed 'unbeatable' boxer in Hollywood Boxing Gym in LA and completely schooled him.

According to reports at the time, Zelenoff had to sign a legal waiver so that he couldn't sue for any damages.
