There has been some speculation as to whether boxer Tony Bellew and MMA fighter Michael Bisping would ever get in the ring or cage together and see who was the better man.

In the lead up to the McGregor vs Mayweather fight, fans were looking at other athletes in the same sports and wanted to see another epic match up.

Bellew told Sky Sports: "I can wrestle, I can grapple, I punch hard, I can kick and I've got some kickboxing experience. You can forget about me getting in the cage with Jon Jones [UFC light-heavyweight champion] - not a chance.

"But if you're asking if I would get in the cage with a puncher in the UFC? Mike Bisping is a guy who is predominantly known as a puncher and he's a very strong wrestler as well.

"I think I could get down to 185[lbs]. If the money is right, then Tony Bellew would happily enter a cage or a ring. Maybe let's do one of them each."

People went wild for the potential fight, and Bisping didn't exactly say he wouldn't want to have a couple of rounds with the British professional boxer.

However, Bellew's promoter Eddie Hearn has poured cold water on the idea, for now, telling RTE: "If the money's there, you can't turn down things like that... You can never rule it out in the future, but there's not one fighter that I have that I'm looking at [making a crossover fight with] other than Katie Taylor against Holly Holm."

"Holly Holm is a good boxer and she's a lot better than many of the [current] female pro boxers out there and I think that's a big fight."

Taylor has an undefeated professional career, winning six from six and was reportedly close to going toe to toe with Holm in 2013.

But Hearn told RTE that it would be incredibly difficult replicating the amount of hype that was generated from the McGregor vs Mayweather bout: "It was a one off, a freak show. I've a lot of admiration for the way they done business and they made an absolute fortune. The best way I can describe it is, they got away with it.

"It broke all records on pay per view over here... They made a lot of money."

Never say never though.
