Disgusting Moment Trainer Sucker Punches Boxer At The End Of The Fight

Andre Dirrell's uncle Leon Lawson landed a sickening sucker-punch flush on José Uzcátegui's chin in one of the most shocking moments in recent boxing history.

The super-middleweight world title bout between Dirrell and Uzcátegui ended in controversy after Uzcátegui was disqualified for punching after the bell in the eighth round.

Dirrell was awarded the fight for the interim IBF super-middleweight title after the referee stopped the contest, deeming the American in no position to continue.

While Dirrell received medical attention, Lawson entered the ring and approached Uzcátegui before attacking him. He sucker-punched the Venezuelan fighter then followed up with two more punches before fleeing the scene in a deplorable act.

Speaking after the bout, Dirrell was apologetic: "I'm sorry for what my coach has done. My coach is my family, my uncle, and he was worried. He cares for me. He loves me. Please forgive him."

Lawson was suspended by the WBC and faced a felony charge, which was eventually dismissed.

He once faced up to a 25-year prison sentence and a $2,500 fine on the first-degree assault charge against and another 10 years on the second-degree assault charge.

Charges have since been lessened to a single count of misdemeanor assault.

Dirrell and Uzcátegui met again ten months later, where Uzcátegui stopped Dirrell in the tenth round to claim the interim IBF super-middleweight belt.
