It's official. On 26th August, at the T Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor will step into the ring to face each other in an actual boxing match.

The fight, which will be McGregor's first professional fight inside a boxing ring, is widely expected to be the highest grossing bout of all time, with the Irishman set for the biggest payday of his career by far, with $100 million set to come his way.

And, while the undefeated former five weight world champion and the UFC's Lightweight champion will dominate sports page headlines for the next two months, another UFC fighter, and McGregor's biggest rival inside the octagon, has got in on the action, following last night's announcement.

Nate Diaz, who handed McGregor his first and only defeat in the UFC, at UFC 196 in March of last year, took to Instagram just moments after the 'fight of the century' as announced, sharing a picture of him reigning victorious over the Notorious one, challenging the Irishman and Mayweather to slug it out for 'the number two spot'.

Many MMA fans are still waiting for a rubber match between the Stockton native and McGregor, with the two weight champion narrowly defeating Diaz in their instant classic of a rematch at UFC 202 in August.

However, with McGregor's UFC plans on hold for the time being, all anyone can talk about is what's going to happen between now and 26th August.

Although, UFC president Dana White perhaps best summed up the mood of combat sport fans everywhere.

So, while the fight itself will likely be nothing more than Mayweather schooling McGregor round the ring for 12 rounds so he can take a points victory and extend his undefeated streak to the magical 50-0, we should all sit back and enjoy the circus that is coming to town for the next two months.
