The ongoing feud between Claressa Shields and Jake Paul has taken another twist, with the women's combat star set to sue the YouTuber-turned-boxer for defamation.

There has been an ugly ongoing war of words between the pair on Twitter, and it appears the straw that broke the camel's back concerns Paul's management company claiming that Shields asked to be on the undercard for one of his fights.

Paul's management company, BAVAFA Sports, responded to one of Shields' tweets which criticised reports that the 24-year-old asked for a 'no knockout clause' to be included in his fight against Tyron Woodley.

This seemingly prompted the 26-year-old to take to Twitter again to come out in defence of her impressive pedigree as a fighter, before dropping a hint that she would sue someone for "lying on my name."

Shields' manager, Mark Taffet, then got involved in the dispute by tweeting a link to yesterday's article from SportBIBLE, which concerned the original claims that the two-time Olympic champion wanted to be on Paul's undercard.

He took a shot at Nakisa Bidarian, the head of BAVAFA Sports, in the caption, and said: "Hey Nakisa @BAVAFASports let the fighters speak for themselves. If u want to engage in debate with me just let me know. I am not Claressa; she's not me. My discussions are my words, not hers. @SalitaProm."

This led to Shields announcing to her followers that she would sue Paul, by quote tweeting the comments made Taffet.

But Shields will be turning her attention back to the ring for now, as she looks set to fight mandatory challenger Ema Kozin in a defence of her WBA, WBC and IBF middleweight titles on 29th January in Cardiff.

This is part of a multi-fight, seven figure deal she has signed with her long-time promoter Salita Promotions, next-generation promoter, BOXXER and Sky Sports.

She will fight on the same bill as Chris Eubank Jr vs Liam Williams in the Welsh capital this weekend, in what looks set to be a superb night of boxing.
