Deontay Wilder has phoned the designers of his extravagant costume and vowed to use them again for his next against Tyson Fury.

'The Bronze Bomber' blamed his devastating defeat to Fury on the costume he wore during his ring walk last weekend in Las Vegas.

But Wilder has promised to use them again after engaging in an emotional phone call on Tuesday when he personally rang Donato Crowley.

He cleared the air with the 52-year-old designer and said he considers him "family" as they aim to move on from this controversial incident per The Sun.

Donato revealed: "Deontay Wilder called me at home last night.

"We had an extensive honest conversation that put confusion and rumours to rest, reiterating that he considers us family.

"Deontay was very clear that he looks forward to future collaborations.

"All of us consider it a privilege to contribute to the cultural and professional legacy of the iconic Deontay Wilder.

"As a fashion organisation, I see no greater honour or responsibility that our team could be entrusted with."

Wilder made the bizarre excuse a few days after his first professional defeat. In a statement he released on Monday, he said: "He didn't hurt me at all, but the simple fact is... that my uniform was way too heavy for me.

"I didn't have no legs from the beginning of the fight. In the third round, my legs were just shot all the way through.

"It could easily be told that I didn't have legs or anything. A lot of people were telling me, 'It looked like something was wrong with you.' Something was, but when you're in the ring, you have to bluff a lot of things.

"I tried my best to do so. I knew I didn't have the legs because of my uniform.

"I was only able to put it on [for the first time] the night before but I didn't think it was going to be that heavy. It weighed 40, 40-some pounds with the helmet and all the batteries.

"I wanted my tribute to be great for Black History Month. I wanted it to be good and I guess I put that before anything."

Wilder will have the chance to reclaim the WBC heavyweight world title after he triggered the contracted rematch clause.
