Mike Tyson has drawn on his own experience to fire a stark warning to Anthony Joshua ahead of his heavyweight world title rematch against Andy Ruiz Jr.

Tyson, who also suffered a shocking first professional defeat, insists Joshua needs to be in the right frame of mind before facing Ruiz Jr.

He's issued an expletive-ridden caution to the former unified heavyweight king, saying "he ain't gonna win it back if his mind's f**ked up."

"He made a mistake, got hurt, and s*** happens," Tyson said on his podcast.

"He can win it back though, but his mind has to be right. He ain't gonna win it back if his mind's f**ked up. His mind's gotta be right, he's gotta dedicate his life to doing this.

"He's gotta stay away from himself. When we go training, we go away in the mountains, we're staying away from yourself and our thoughts.

"In the mountains away from everybody, just the animals and the woods and stuff - you're facing your demons alone.

"His spirits appear well to you, but in his mind... what's going on in his mind? F**k. This stage in life is really what makes them.

"Because they already have money now. Now it's all about: Who are you?

"Now you're dealing with adversity, who are you? What are you gonna do now?

"Are you gonna lay down now? And say, 'Hey, I don't want no more.'

"Do you stay down and give it up? Or do you believe in it? You got any f**king pride, n*****?"

Ruiz Jr stunned the heavyweight division by stopping Joshua to become the new world champion, and Tyson experienced a similar fate in 1990 when he lost his titles to Buster Douglas in Tokyo.

But Joshua has the chance to regain heavyweight supremacy when he takes on the Mexican-American champion after his team triggered the rematch clause.

He's slated to meet Ruiz Jr again before the end of the year.

Will Joshua reclaim the heavyweight world titles? Let us know.
