A video capturing the moment Callum Smith became world champion has surfaced, and it's spine-tingling footage.

'Mundo' erupted in sheer delight after stopping Groves in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on Friday night.

Once the referee waved off the contest, Smith's team poured into the ring which included his head trainer Joe Gallagher as well as his three brothers and father.

Smith stopped Groves in the seventh round, bagging a trio of belts not to mention the Muhammad Ali Trophy.

The Liverpool-fighter is now WBA (super), WBC diamond and The Ring magazine super-middleweight world champion.

Smith systematically broke down Groves, eventually stopping the world champion with a flurry of brutal shots including a spiteful left-hook which badly rocked the Londoner.

The 28-year-old has been waiting ages for a shot at world honours, a sentiment which was echoed in his post-fight interview.

"I have waited so long for this," he said.

Smith added: "I'm a big believer in my own ability and I knew I was good enough to become the best on the planet.

"I'm not a man who shows a lot of emotion, you never see me ecstatic, but you saw it tonight because it's a lifetime ambition fulfilled."

Smith, a long-dangerous puncher, has the potential to clean up the super-middleweight division.

Fellow Scouser Rocky Fielding also holds a version of the WBA title. Mexico's Gilberto Ramirez may provide the most threat to Smith's super-middleweight supremacy.
