Tyson Fury has claimed he was getting a "little bit stale" as he has revealed why he axed trainer Ben Davison ahead of his rematch with Deontay Wilder.

Fury rematches Wilder for the WBC heavyweight world title next year and before his meeting with the undefeated American champion, he's ditched Davison for Javon 'Sugar' Hill.

And speaking on ESPN, the self-proclaimed 'Gypsy King' has explained why he has swapped trainers.

"I was going a little bit stale, repetitive, doing the same things day in, day out for years. I needed a change," said Fury.

"We're gonna go back to basics," he added. "I trained with Sugar Hill back in 2010, we got on like a house on fire."

Davison played a huge role in Fury's remarkable career turnaround and cornered him against Wilder back in December 2018.

But he won't be in his corner when they rematch in Las Vegas. Instead, Hill will be the man in Fury's corner.

Fury's decision to leave Davison shocked the boxing community with Wilder pulling no punches in his assessment.

"I heard about it. He's trying to do his best to get himself defeated," he said. "He's concerned about this fight. He don't believe the hype around him.

"They seemed like they were cool from what you read, but you hear a lot of different things so who knows what was really going on.

"Sometimes, it just takes that person to take the initiative to say 'I gotta go.' I don't know how much you can read into it. But it ain't gonna matter who he gets. You can't teach power; you can't teach speed."

Wilder vs. Fury II is official for February 22 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
