A deal has finally been agreed. Joseph Parker will be Anthony Joshua's next opponent after Parker's promoter David Higgins confirmed that he has received a contractual offer from Joshua's promoter Eddie Hearn.

After Joshua made it 20 professional wins from 20 with a TKO win over Carlos Takam at the Principality Stadium in October, a number of bouts were touted for what promises to be an exciting 2018 for the WBA, IBF and IBO heavyweight champion.

WBO champion Joseph Parker, also undefeated, is seen as one of the most appealing and after promoter Eddie Hearn confirmed an announcement was close, Parker's promoter Higgins has confirmed that terms have been agreed between the pair.

Higgins told ESPN the following about the potential fight between Joshua and Parker:

"The fight has never been closer. We're a lot closer now to a deal because we've had a major breakthrough, which is that the two camps have formally agreed on the split. The Joshua side made a small concession, and the Parker side has made a small concession."

Higgins later confirmed that the fight would take place on a Saturday, no sooner than March 31 and no later than April 28.

The main issue which delayed an official announcement has been the disagreements over the share of the money from the unification fight, but that looks to be getting ironed out.

Around 78,000 filled the Principality Stadium a few months back to see Joshua's latest defence, and after Hearn admitted the venue is the frontrunner for the next big heavyweight bout, it was suggested that Joshua-Parker will take place in the Welsh capital.
