Amir Khan will return to the welterweight division, but has effectively ruled out the possibility of fighting long-time domestic rival Kell Brook.

Following Khan's unsuccessful middleweight debut, where he impressed before succumbing to the power of 'Canelo', a fight with the IBF welterweight world champion seemed back in the frame yet the Bolton fighter claims Brook is not a big star and simply doesn't like him.

"[Brook's promoter] Eddie Hearn can keep saying that he's massive, he's this, he's that, he's a big name: he's not. He's on his route, I'm on my route, and we just don't agree with each other. Basically, I don't like him and I'm not going to give him the fight.

Khan added that he does respect Brook as a fighter, though is only seeking fights with big names from here on out.

The former unified world champion still remains mandatory challenger for WBC welterweight world champion Danny Garcia, who holds a knockout win over him.

According to Khan, the rematch is the likeliest option; "Garcia definitely is top of the list, it's the easiest one to make, and it'd be a great fight for me, someone my own weight."

Match-ups with Timothy Bradley, Manny Pacquiao and Miguel Cotto were also mentioned.

Meanwhile, the Sheffield star will have to look elsewhere for a big pay day, with a unification bout with WBO welterweight world champion Jessie Vargas in the works.
