Amir Khan has been keeping quite the secret. The former world champion has gone on record claiming that he's been suffering from a broken hand for the last 13 years of his fighting career.

As a result of the hand condition, it's apparently prevented him from delivering a full power right hand. In order to fix the issue he's undergone surgery to rearrange his hands while it'll take approximately three months to be fully healed, the Bolton-native can't wait to lace up a pair of gloves.

Speaking to The Sun he addressed his injury; "I kept the news of my hand injury quiet from everyone. I had to because I didn't want any of my opponents to know about it."

His desire to become world champion, which he experienced 2009 and then again in 2011, was the reason he delayed the surgery. "I know people might question why I didn't get the operation sooner but I couldn't - I was too set on chasing my dream to become world champion and I was in big fights."

He was adamant he didn't want to sit on the sidelines "I had to keep on fighting and keep myself busy. I didn't want to take a step back because my dream to become world champion would have been delayed."

Though, after his brutal knock-out to 'Canelo' he knew it was time to undergo the surgery, and he believes he'll be better than ever; "I am going to go into fights now knowing I have power in this hand and it is alright. That in itself is a massive confidence boost. I'm really excited to get in the ring and punch somebody in the face"

The 29-year-old recently made the rounds by starting "UFC training" in hopes to land a Conor McGregor bout but we all know that's bullshit and just to gain some attention as he anticipates a rematch with Danny Garcia, targeting a January 2017 return.
