Roy Jones Jr is the latest superstar to be linked with a fight against Jake Paul, with the legendary boxer's trainer refusing to rule out a future fight.

YouTuber Paul is making quite the impact in the boxing world, despite only being 2-0, as he chases the biggest possible fights he can.

For weeks he's been calling out MMA stars, such as Conor McGregor, Michael Bisping and even Amanda Nunes, and it looks like he could get his wish by fighting Ben Askren .

Bigger things could be ahead for the 23-year-old, with former heavyweight champion Jones Jr potentially interested in a fight, according to trainer Tom Yankello.

"I think Roy is from that old school era," Yankello told the Sun, "It's almost a really foreign thing to him and even myself on how these YouTube guys get so much exposure and how big they become.

"I don't think it's something that has ever crossed his mind but I wouldn't say he'd rule it out either.

"I wouldn't say it's something that couldn't happen, that's for sure. It's something that is very interesting if it got presented to us."

Jones Jr came out of retirement in November to face fellow legend Mike Tyson, his first fight in just over two years, with Paul on the undercard.

The social media star was making just his second appearance in a professional boxing fight. He'd fought another YouTuber on the undercard of brother Logan's loss to KSI and beat former NBA star Nate Robinson last month.

Yankello warned that people shouldn't underestimate Paul, saying, "Considering the kids age and the vitality I wouldn't say it would be a gimme for anyone.

"Roy is definitely the legend with the skills but Jake being a young kid it would be interesting.

"I think Roy still has a lot of skill and you see him fight a guy like Mike Tyson, who was in great shape, and I feel like they could both be competitive against young guys.

"If you don't have boxing experience just because you're young and in great shape it doesn't mean you could beat a legend.

"Roy was sparring with young guys in the gym that were probably a higher calibre than Jake Paul and he was doing his thing."

It remains to be seen if there's any chance of Paul getting in the ring with Jones Jr but knowing his thirst for money, acclaim and the big name fights, could anyone rule it out for certain?
