Mike Tyson Was Incredibly Humble About A 'Fantasy' Fight With Tyson Fury

Fury doubted his credentials, but 'Iron Mike' hit him with some words of wisdom.

Mike Tyson told Tyson Fury that he "needs to have more confidence in himself" after the self-proclaimed 'Gypsy King' said he'd have no chance in a fantasy fight between the pair.

The last thing most of us would accuse Tyson Fury of is lacking confidence, especially now he's WBC champion, but namesake Mike felt he needed a boost.

The American is often put together with modern fighters for a 'fantasy fight' and when asked in 2018 about him fighting Iron Mike, Tyson Fury claimed the 54-year-old would manage a clean knockout.

In return the 'Baddest Man on the Planet' wasn't too sure, saying, "Hey Tyson Fury, I heard you said I'd knock you out if we fought.

"Hey man, you gotta have more confidence in yourself, anything can happen in a fight. you see Buster Douglas knocked me out so anything can happen."

All that was back at the beginning of 2018 when Fury hadn't returned to the ring, after his victory against Wladimir Klitschko in 2015, and was at the beginning of his comeback.

Later that year he beat Sefer Seferi and Francesco Pianeta to set up his first world title shot against Wilder in the December of that year.

Fury surprised everyone at the time with his performance and he would have won but for the 12th-round knockdown he somehow got up from, with the fight ending in a controversial draw.

Just over a year later he would capture the world title for the second time by outclassing and outboxing the 'Bronze Bomber' in their rematch, eventually causing a stoppage in the seventh round.

Iron Mike was in attendance that night, with the WBC paying homage to the heavyweight greats of the 1990s, as Evander Holyfield and Lennox Lewis were also honoured, and the American celebrated the Brit's win.

Despite humbly telling Fury to have more confidence in himself, the original Tyson still believes at his best he'd still be world champion in today's era, saying on a recent YouTube Q&A, "Listen, if you're asking me if I was 20-years-old, Yes.

"There's no doubt. They're really good fighters and I respect all these skills. It would have been very tough fighting them."

Fury reportedly has his eyes set on Anthony Joshua next while Tyson is also making an extraordinary comeback.

He will face Roy Jones Jr in an exhibition contest on November 28.
