Jake Paul Announces He's Retired From Boxing Following Tyron Woodley Fight

Jake Paul Announces He's Retired From Boxing Following Tyron Woodley Fight

Jake Paul has claimed that he's retired from boxing, less than 24 hours after beating former UFC star Tyron Woodley in his latest fight.

Jake Paul has claimed that he's hung up his boxing gloves, less than 24 hours after defeating Tyron Woodley and taking his professional record to 4-0.

Paul has quickly become one of the most talked about men in sport, since deciding to turn his hand to boxing off the back of a career as a YouTuber.

After first appearing on the undercard of brother Logan's fight with KSI, the younger of the Paul brothers has gone head on into being a boxer, without actually fighting another boxer.

On Sunday he notched up his latest win by beating former UFC champion Woodley on a split decision, the first time he's ever been taken the distance, and then agreed to rematch the MMA star on one condition.

After the fight, Paul also had a heated head-to-head with social media sparring partner Tommy Fury, with the two expected to meet in the near future.

However, on Monday night, the 24-year-old American took to Twitter and claimed that he was 'updating his status' to 'retired boxer.'

Fans had accused Sunday night's fight, in which Fury had appeared on the undercard, of being rigged after Woodley landed flush in the fourth round and didn't follow up despite clearly rocking Paul.

If the fight was legit then it may have been the moment that the social media star, who has spent months goading Conor McGregor, decided to call it quits.

Paul's worth was already reported to be around the $20 million mark and according to reports from the weekend was due to pocket another $5 million from his latest fight.

If Woodley's power really rocked him perhaps he figured that Fury, with years of boxing training behind him, would be a step too far.

Of course there is no guarantee that the retirement will stick at all, or will even be legitimate in the first place, and it wouldn't be the first time a fighter has quickly reversed their decision to end their career.

Paul's own potential future opponent McGregor has done it on several occasions already and Floyd Mayweather had at least one career after retiring.

Do you think Paul is actually done with the fight game?
