Anthony Joshua defended the IBF world title against Wladimir Klitschko while unifying the heavyweight division by collecting the vacant WBA [Super] and IBO world titles in an epic heavyweight bout.

Joshua and Klitschko headlined Wembley Stadium in front of a British record attendance.

90,000 fans filled the national football stadium, breaking the record previously held by Carl Froch and George Groves from their 2014 fight.

After claiming the IBF belt last year against Charles Martin, Joshua reeled off back-to-back successful defences against Dominic Breazeale and Eric Molina.

And he went a step further by completed a hat-trick of defences against the Klitschko, as well as capturing the WBA [Super] and IBO world titles in one of the greatest heavyweight bouts in recent memory.

After all the build-up leading up the fight, it certainly did not disappoint as the two Olympic gold medalists went to war.

To begin with, the early rounds were cagey and tight, but AJ came out flying in the fifth, giving absolutely everything and exploding into Klitschko with a series of brutal strikes that cut him under his eye and left him on the deck.

Klitschko eventually managed to withstand the onslaught though and came back at AJ brilliantly as the round drew to a close.

Then in in round six, Klitschko put Joshua on the canvas for the first time in his career with a deadly right hand.

However, the 27-year old physical specimen got back up, completed the round and regained his energy.

By the time the 11th round came about, Joshua went in for the kill.

He get his second wind and unleashed a series of powerful punches to the Klitschko, putting him on the ground on two separate instances in an incredible round.

Klitschko could not contain Joshua and the referee was forced to step in and stop the fight, sending Wembley into a frenzy.

Social media was quick to react to Joshua's star-making performance@:

Tyson Fury, currently on a hiatus from boxing, was clearly watching closely and was quick to react to Joshua's huge win.

But we reckon Jamie Carragher stole the show with a brilliant tweet that has garnered 2,000 Retweets, as Carra referenced Klitschko's USB stick debacle days before the right.

Going into the fight, Klitschko of course went into a bit of a bizarre mode when he revealed that he had given a prediction ahead of the fight on a USB stick which he showed to those gathered at Thursday's press conference.

He said:

"I'm not Nostradamus but I recorded a video of my prediction of the fight. This stick is going to be in my robe which I'm going to wear on Saturday night.

"Do not ask me after the fight what is on the stick. The only person who is going to be able to open it up and watch it is the person who is going to buy the robe with the stick. The money will go to the Klitschko foundation."

Boxing enthusiasts are understandably desperate to know what exactly Klitschko's prediction was, but it appears only two people will ever have the privilege of knowing.
