Floyd Mayweather is set to make his long-awaited return to boxing - after agreeing to use his digital likeness for virtual fights.

The American's last fight came against UFC megastar Conor McGregor in August 2017 and his latest post-boxing career venture could be his most bizarre.

'Money' has partnered with streaming platform fuboTV and virtual entertainment company FaceBank and agreed to use his likeness for fights against other boxing superstars.

It will give fans an opportunity to see the 43-year-old take on some of the all-time greats in a unique way.

A variety of other fighters past and present are rumoured to be partnering with the service in the coming weeks.

"Resembling short films, these precise, real-time simulations will feature top-secret results based on a modeling computer that will make incremental relationships between actual performance, velocity of punches, speed of reaction, strategy and stamina,' a press release read per Daily Mail.

"These unprecedented virtual boxing matches will be exclusive to live TV streaming platform fuboTV and pay-per-view partners to be announced."

FaceBank are set to work with Mayweather to create the 'perfect' digital likeness to recreate how he looked when in the ring.

Mayweather was undefeated throughout his career and was well known for his pragmatic style of boxing.

He has frequently referred to himself as the greatest of all time but there is one man who strongly disagrees - Mike Tyson.

'Iron Mike' went in hard on Mayweather for calling himself the best, explaining he comes nowhere close to Muhammad Ali.

"He's very delusional," 'Iron Mike' explained. "Listen, if he was anywhere near that realm of great as Muhammad Ali, he'd be able to take his kids to school by himself.

"OK, he can't take his kids to school by himself, and he's talking about he's great?

"Greatness is not guarding yourself from the people. 'It's being accepted by the people.

"He can't take his kids alone to school by himself. He's a little scared man. He's a very small, scared man."

Tyson has also doubled down on his claims about Mayweather by claiming he would 'kick his a**e' in a street fight last year.

Do you think Floyd Mayweather will go down as one boxing's greatest ever fighters?
