Jake Paul could be in line to fight UFC superstar Conor McGregor in 2022 - with the YouTube star being tipped to have more boxing experience than the Irishman.

Paul called out 'The Notorious' earlier this month and even personally insulted his fiancée, Dee Devlin, in an attempt to riled him up.

The 25-year-old is currently 2-0 in boxing, while McGregor's only professional fight came in a defeat to Floyd Mayweather in 2017.

J'Leon Love is Paul's assistant trainer and he told The Sun: "I think a fight with Conor McGregor would be a good chess match.

"It will be a decent chess match and from that on who has the better boxing experience between the two? Jake Paul.

"Conor only has one fight, with the greatest, but one fight.

"I know Conor McGregor's is more stand up in MMA, he can kick well, he has a really good left hand.

"But I think if we can take that left hand away, which I am really good at breaking down, then we have a one-armed fighter and we'll kill him any day."

Regarding a date for the clash, Love is in no rush to throw Paul in against the former 'Champ-champ.'

"Let's see how 2021 pans out," he continued.

"Maybe we have one or two in the earlier year and then maybe fight again at the end of the year, check out and 2022 have a big year.

"If we can throw Conor McGregor in there? S*** that would be solid, as Jake would be a solid boxer by then.

"Like I said, no rush, it's good to talk about it, it's good with the antics, it builds something up.

"If Conor is interested, maybe it's not $50million later, maybe it's more, you never know.

"It's all about making the right moves, but we have something really solid here and people are hating on it. But it's something new and if you stick to the old it stays old."

Paul's approach to calling out McGregor has been slammed by fans who think it is disrespectful.

He has insisted the comments are justified after McGregor's remarks towards fierce rival Khabib Nurmagomedov a number of years ago.

"I don't give a f**k. He [McGregor] spoke on Khabib's wife. He said Khabib's wife looks like a towel," he told TMZ.

"He's getting a taste of his own medicine. And now all of a sudden, people are butthurt [and saying that] I'm going too far. F**k off. This is the fight game."
