Dillian Whyte has made the astonishing claim that Tyson Fury's real name is Luke - and that he changed it to Tyson so he could "sound harder."

Fury has become one of the biggest names in heavyweight boxing and is the current WBC heavyweight champion.

His father John revealed the first name of Tyson was adopted from boxing legend Mike Tyson.

However, Whtye told The Sun that it has actually been a ruse this whole time.

"My real name is Dillian. I know his real name is Luke," the 32-year-old begun.

"He changed it to Tyson to make himself sound harder. People can have a little look around on the internet and see for themselves.

"In boxing, the name Tyson is a lot more sellable than Luke.

"A lot of what Tyson does and says is a game, you can never take anything he says seriously or at face value.

"He might say he wants to fight me sometimes but how can you trust a man who doesn't even use his own name?"

The self-proclaimed 'Gypsy King' has revealed in the past that his middle name is Luke but has made no mention of it being his first.

John Fury has also gone into detail about the choice of name and he stated it was down to Tyson showing he was a fighter from birth.

"He was just a pound in weight," he revealed in 'Tyson Fury - The Gypsy King' on ITV.

"The doctor said he probably won't make it, he's very weak.

"I said to all them doctors, he won't be small, I said he'll be nearly 7ft tall, 20 stone, the next heavyweight champion of the world.

"I thought, 'There's only one name fitting for him, he's fought hard to become a person living in this world.'

"Mike Tyson was the best in the world at that time. Tyson Luke Fury - that's his name."

Meanwhile, Whyte is preparing for a showdown with Alexander Povetkin on Saturday night at Eddie Hearn's Fight Camp.

"I will fight anyone, anywhere and that is why I am the real Gypsy King and I have even got my flat cap to prove it," the 'Body Snatcher' continued.

"Tyson Fury likes to tell people that he is but let's see.

"Fury had a privileged upbringing, went to a posh school in an expensive area and lives in a lovely house. What kind of gypsy is he?"
