Johnson was in a strong position halfway through the fight, but it would all change in an instant after Munguia's ferocious strike.
He unleashed a uppercut that left damage so big, Johnson's corner thought it was an illegal headbutt.
Doctors checked Johnson out as the sixth round came to a close and replays confirmed it was from Munguia's shot, giving the 24-year-old victory via stoppage.

Fans have reacted to the injury and they think it's one of the most gruesome they've ever seen.

Munguia's record now stands at 36-0 and he could be in line for a shot at WBC middleweight champion Jermall Charlo or WBO middleweight champion Demetrius Andrade.
It's a similar injury to that suffered by UFC heavyweight Alistair Overeem last year.
The 40-year-old took on Jairzinho Rozenstruik at UFC on ESPN 7 in December and was on route to securing a decision victory.
But Rozenstruik fought back in the fifth and final round and unloaded two devastating punches on 'Demolition Man' with four seconds left in the fight.
'Bigi Boy' nailed Overeem with a shot to the left of the face before hitting him with a powerful right, which caused his top lip to split.

Referee Dan Miragliotta immediately leapt into action and called the fight in favour of Rozenstruik.
