Anthony Joshua Mocked For Training Video As Fans Say Tyson Fury Will Destroy Him

Is the heavyweight champ trolling us with these magnificently telegraphed haymakers?

Anthony Joshua has shared training footage of himself throwing some giant bombs at the pads on social media - but it's drawn a mixed response from boxing fans.

Some have accused the sculpted heavyweight of moving "like a robot", while others on social media claim his wide-open stance and laboured speed show that Tyson Fury would make mincemeat of AJ if the pair meet in the ring.

A few fans even compare him to Deontay Wilder, which is a compliment to Joshua's power but probably not to his technique.

"Fury will have dodged inside and hit him 4 times in the time it takes AJ to wind one up," comes one response on Twitter. Another commented: "Steam engine pace."

Others fans, however, point out that we don't know exactly what Joshua was working on during this training drill. "The purpose is to throw with your entire body weight. Perfecting punching technique. Stop analysing things without any prior knowledge," scolds one follower.

There's also the strong possibility that AJ is doing a bit of good-humoured trolling, knowing that footage of him spectacularly winding up bludgeoning two-punch combinations will draw plenty of attention (good and bad).

The 30-year-old is training ahead of a mandatory fight against Kubrat Pulev, which should go ahead this December - and he certainly looks in tremendous physical condition.

The dream is then for Joshua to fight Fury in 2021, providing the latter can come through his third fight with Wilder victorious.

At one point in time Joshua would have started as a favourite against Fury, but after last year's defeat to Andy Ruiz Jr (later avenged) and Fury's spectacular demolition of Wilder in February, AJ would likely go into their encounter as a slight underdog.

But it seems unlikely that Joshua would unleash such telegraphed haymakers against someone of Fury's crafty skills.

Potentially Joshua was just shaking off some ring rust and getting physically used to throwing punches with maximum weight behind them.

Or possibly this is a double-bluff and coach Robert McCracken will send out Joshua against Pulev launching nuclear bent-arm combos from the off with no absolutely thought to any set-up punches. Only time will tell.
