Jake Paul Demands That Floyd Mayweather Puts His 50-0 Record On The Line In ‘Real Fight’

Jake Paul Demands That Floyd Mayweather Puts His 50-0 Record On The Line In ‘Real Fight’

"I don't think Floyd would actually fight me outside of an exhibition as he doesn't want to risk his record."

Jake Paul has demanded that Floyd Mayweather meet him in a licenced boxing match, claiming that the pound-for-pound great is scared to "risk his record" against him.

YouTuber Logan Paul, Jake's older brother, takes on Mayweather in an exhibition contest on 6 June. However a press event to promote their bout was totally overshadowed when Mayweather and Jake Paul got into a physical altercation, sparking a wild brawl.

Now Jake - who boasts a 3-0 pro record (albeit he is yet to fight an actual boxer) - has said he wants to fight 'Money' Mayweather. However unlike his brother's bout, he wants it to be in an official match-up - although he's questioned whether Floyd would dare do this.

"I don't want to do exhibitions and I think that's the difference between Floyd and I and even my brother and I," the 24-year-old told SunSport.

"I want legitimate pro fights that are sanctioned, I want to build my pro record.

"I don't think Floyd would actually fight me outside of an exhibition as he doesn't want to risk his record.

"Maybe if we can come to some kind of agreement around that, I'd fight Floyd. But I'm not doing like the circus, exhibition s**t."

Some might raise their eyebrows at Jake Paul disdaining the "circus" element of boxing when his three knockout wins have come against a fellow YouTuber, an ex-NBA player and a former UFC fighter in Ben Askren.

However the social media star has claimed he's serious about building his boxing resume and, in a way, what better way to do it than against one of the greatest boxers of all time?

The 44-year-old Mayweather officially retired from boxing with a perfect 50-0 record in 2017 after he stopped Conor McGregor, an MMA fighter making his pro debut. Since then he's stuck to exhibitions, including a sorry spectacle against Tenshin Nasukawa in Japan and the forthcoming contest with 26-year-old Logan.

Jake Paul's attempt to goad Mayweather into the ring began when he snatched the boxer's hat during a media event in Miami. That sparked the melee that left the younger Paul brother with a black eye, bloodied lip and Mayweather absolutely furious.

"I'll kill you motherf***er. You crazy?" Mayweather fumed in the aftermath. "I don't know who the f*** you think you're playing with.... I'll f*** you up."

Whether Jake Paul has done enough to convince Floyd - and the paying public - that Mayweather vs 'The Problem Child' should meet in a pro boxing bout remains to be seen.
