Canelo Alvarez has named the fighter with the hardest and most "brutal" punch power ever seen in boxing.

The Mexican pound-for-pound king, who's fighting Britain's Billy Joe Saunders this weekend, was asked in a DAZN interview if he could have the KO power of any boxer in history, who would it be.

Only one answer for Canelo: "Mike Tyson, because he had a brutal punch," he replied.

"Even if he grazed you, he'd knock you out."

Former undisputed heavyweight champ Tyson was one of the most feared punchers in the sport in his prime, racking up 44 knockouts (including 22 in the first round). 'Iron Mike' has also been warm in his praise of Canelo, calling him the No 1 fighter in the sport by a distance right now.

Alvarez was also asked which boxer's defence he'd love to have and named Mexican super-flyweight great Gilberto Roman, a world champion in the 1980s.

When it came to his dream opponents, Canelo also went back to the legends of '80s boxing as he named three of the so-called four kings, saying: "Sugar Ray Leonard, Roberto Duran and Marvin Hagler - I would have loved to be in there with any of those fighters."

When it came to other athletes he admired, keen golfer Canelo named Tiger Woods as his favourite in that sport, but named a former Manchester United striker among the athletes he admires most (which included three footballers, two F1 drivers and an NBA star).

"Checo [Sergio] Perez, Javier Hernandez, Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Lewis Hamilton and LeBron James," replied Alvarez.

"They're all good examples to follow, and I obviously admire them all"

Alvarez defends his position as the top dog in the super-middleweight division as he faces Saunders in a unification fight in Texas this weekend.

Chalk up a win against the brash, undefeated Brit and Canelo takes another step towards the legendary status enjoyed by Tyson, Leonard, Duran, Hagler and the other athletes he so admires.
