“They give them boxer’s licences when they’re not a boxer. This is not a soccer game, they could get killed."

Super middleweight ace Canelo Alvarez has expressed concern for Jake Paul and other celebrities trying to forge boxing careers.

YouTuber Paul improved his professional record to 3-0 last month, but Mexican Alvarez is worried about the growing trend of fights involving celebrities and reality television stars.

Alvarez, who faces Billy Joe Saunders in Texas on May 8th, told the In-Depth With Graham Bensinger show: "They give them boxer's licences when they're not a boxer.

"This is not a soccer game, they could get killed.

"Why do they give licences to people who have never in their life even thrown a punch? If there's a death, the commission will be responsible. Why? Because they issued the licence for the fight."

Paul's brother Logan is set to fight Floyd Mayweather in June but Canelo: "It's not really relevant at all. It's an exhibition, just for making money. It's stupid."

Mayweather vs Logan Paul has now been officially rescheduled for Sunday 6th June at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida.

Last month, Mayweather explained why he is taking the fight, telling the Disruptive Entrepreneur podcast: "I can fight a fighter right now and I can guarantee myself $35m.

"I can eventually probably make $50m, for just a regular fight. Or me and Logan Paul can go out, entertain, have fun and make nine figures $100m or more.

"Everybody thinks that 'retired' means at home with your feet up and picking up weight. I prefer to go out, still entertain and have fun. Just because I still go out, entertain and have fun doesn't mean that I still wanna fight for 12 rounds.

"I think we've got a six-round exhibition. I think it's gonna be very entertaining for the people, I think people are gonna love it.

"$35m for 12 rounds or $100m for six rounds - big difference."
