Dillan Whyte breaks down the upcoming heavyweight world title fight between Anthony Joshua and Alexander Povetkin.

Joshua defends his WBA (super), IBF, WBO and IBO heavyweight belts against Povetkin and ahead of the heavyweight showdown at Wembley Stadium, Whyte has analysed the bout.

Anthony Joshua - Weapons

Joshua has stopped 20 of his 21 opponents and Whyte believes his biggest weapons going into his fight versus Povetkin is his jab and right uppercut.

Fight Analysis - Anthony Joshua vs. Joseph Parker

Joshua successfully defended his world titles whilst capturing the WBO belt after beating the previously-undefeated Parker.

The New Zealand boxer took Joshua to the distance and when analysing the bout, Whyte felt Joshua was "tentative" and "not being as aggressive and forceful as he usually is."

Joshua eventually pushed the pace in the championship rounds by pumping his jab and throwing combinations.

"Close the fight off strong, that's the difference in this fight," Whyte added.

Keys To Victory

Whyte has outlined Joshua's keys to victory which includes using his jab to keep Povetkin at bay, as well as the right uppercut.

But movement is key, too. Whyte suggests Joshua "needs to use his feet."

Alexander Povetkin - Weapons

Povetkin, a veteran of 34 professional fights, brings experience to the table according to Whyte who also believes he carries a "bit of punch power" which could pose a problem for Joshua.

Fight Analysis - Alexander Povetkin vs. David Price

Povetkin featured on Joshua's under-card in his last outing, viciously knocking out David Price to land a shot opposite the heavyweight kingpin.

But Whyte was impressed with Povetkin's movement. He negated Price's reach by "ducking, diving, bobbing and weaving."

Keys To Victory

Just like Joshua, Whyte reckons Povetkin's key to victory is his jab, which can get him inside thus able to land his trademark left-hook.

He also thinks the 39-year-old needs to rely on head movement, rolling and counter punching not to mention making the fight 'messy'.

"Be aggressive, take the range away, make it messy," Whyte suggests.

Prediction

Ultimately, Whyte predicts a Joshua victory. "In the first six rounds, I think he'll [Joshua] knock Povetkin out."

While Whyte rates Povetkin's experience and boxing background - which includes an Olympic gold medal, he reckons Joshua's youthfulness should be too much. "I just believe Joshua's youth and energy will prevail in the end."

That's what Whyte thinks, let us know your prediction in the comment section below.
