While controversial YouTuber Jake Paul may have built himself an internet empire, he's also making bank competing in boxing competitions.

Paul's scheduled fight against former mixed martial arts star Ben Askren proves he's serious about making himself into a fighter.

Paul is continuing his contentious foray into professional boxing with two wins so far, the last being a victory over ex-NBA player Nate Robinson last year.

In the aftermath of that win, Paul and Askren began their war of words and that evolved into a confirmed fight.

But how fruitful of an endeavour is this for the online star and how much does he make from boxing?

Believe it or not, he makes a lot more than you'd think...

Who is Jake Paul?

Jake Paul is the brother of Logan Paul - both of whom are YouTuber online personalities with sizeable followings across almost every social media platform.

They initially gained popularity on now-defunct video platform Vine and Jake Paul starred in Bizaardvark, a show on the Disney Channel.

As of late, both Paul brothers have become well-known for, bizarrely, boxing.

Logan boxed fellow YouTuber KSI to a draw in a ludicrously high profile amateur boxing match in August 2018.

Meanwhile, Jake fought KSI's younger brother Deji Olatunji on the undercard.

After the bout, Jake continued boxing and has fought professionally twice, most recently knocking out former NBA star Nate Robinson on the undercard of Mike Tyson's recent comeback against Roy Jones Jr.

Since that time, the 24-year-old has been going back and forth with multiple MMA fighters, including Conor McGregor and his training partner Dillon Danis, but ultimately he's set up a boxing match against retired UFC fighter Ben Askren.

How much will Jake Paul make from the Askren fight?

It is not yet known how much the fighters will be given for taking part in this event, however, we can make a guess based on previous fights.

Paul 'The Problem Child' is rumoured to have walked away from his last fight with Nate Robinson with at least $10m.

With that being said, Paul is sure to make around the same or potentially more as he is fast becoming a favourite for many.

According to The Mirror, Jake Paul claims he is already among the top-five highest earners in boxing.
